About Us

"A SPECIAL KIND OF COACHING"

Coach Gary Blair has always had a strong desire to help others.  Everywhere he coached he fully immersed himself into the city and tried to do what he could to help the local community.

However, there was one community that ultimately captured the coach's heart.

It all started in 1992 when Coach Blair began working with Special Olympics Texas and the joy he saw in the Special Olympians eyes. Every medal he hung around an athletes neck only intensified his desire to be involved.

His love and involvement with the Special Olympic community has continued to grow, and in 2008 Coach Blair Charities was established. Since that time over $1 million dollars has been raised for the Brazos Valley area teams, Special Olympics Texas, and various local charities.

Over the years the support from the Brazos Valley Community has continued to grow.  The local businesses and individuals who have contributed to Coach Blair Charities are incredibly selfless and supportive and we look forward to maintaining our partnership with all of them for years to come.

Your donations are helping our local athletes compete

at the highest level!
Over the years Coach Blair Charities has been able to help send athletes and their teams to events all over the country and the world, and WOW are they responding.  Two of the most recent examples of this are:

  • In 2022 the "Texas Aggie" college flag football team from Bryan/College Station won the Special Olympics United Intercollegiate National Championship in Orlando, FL.

  • This past summer cyclist Allison Dohrman competed in the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin!  Going up against over 200 other athletes Allison brought home both a SILVER and BRONZE Medal!!!
(video and story can be seen here: https://www.kbtx.com/2023/06/29/college-station-athlete-returns-home-after-winning-medals-special-olympics-world-games-berlin/)

All of this was made possible due to the hard work of the athletes, coaches, family, the support of the community, and Coach Blair Charities.  These two stories are great examples of how your donations help our local teams and athletes achieve their goals.  We cannot thank you enough for all that you do.
